TTC - infertility

Hey, I’m under a fertility clinic at the moment and have been prescribed clomid but I’m worried because I know I do ovulate so I l’m not sure clomid will help. Would anyone be willing to share the reasons why they’ve been put forward for IUI please? I’m just trying to figure out if it may be the right thing for me, or if there’s any specific testing you have to have to establish that it’s the right treatment! Thanks :)

Ovulation induction meds can help boost your ovulation to give you a stronger ovulation. And if your partner has issues with sperm then that’s why they suggest IUI because it could be the sperm struggling to get to the egg so IUI places the sperm right by your fallopian tubes so the sperm has less distance to travel giving you a higher chance of conceiving. Just a forewarning clomid is a tough med. makes your emotions all over the place and get the “the clomid crazies”

@Kylie hey, thanks for your response. My husband’s sperm analysis came back totally normal, so do you think they wouldn’t suggest IUI/it wouldn’t be the right thing? Oh gosh yes I’ve done one cycle of clomid and I found it so hard! Literally felt like I was going through the menopause or something 😅

@Jules I’ve had a friend do IUI and her husbands sperm is normal she has pcos and other issues as well and has tried for 18 months so they suggest IUI.

@Kylie thank you, that’s helpful to know. I’ll mention it at my appointment in March and see if it’s something they would consider :)

I did IUI as a same sex couple and I do ovulate so wasn't doing it for fertility issues but did use clomid to up my chances of getting pregnant ☺️. I did the first one unmedicated and then 2 medicated and got pregnant on the 3rd go. Happy to answer any questions if you have them ❤️ x

@Nia congrats Nia! Thank you for sharing your experience :) I’ll drop you a message xx
