I do the same, u can find it on cdc guidelines. I store the leftover unused milk for baths tho
@Trista after they drink it ? I know I can keep it outside 4-6 hours but I’ve heard it’s different after they drink and left over in the bottle
@Merve I believe so I mean as long as you put a lid on it
@Joelle u keep it only 2 hours too ?
@Holly 🤔🤔 I’m confused lol
@Merve yes ma’am, anything past that is bath milk for us
And don’t put it back in the fridge
I keep it for 2 hours after she drinks from it. The cdc says it’s only good for 1-2 hours after it’s been drunk from. I’m careful with how much I start with and refill by only 30ml at a time though so I don’t have much wasted
I used to keep it until her next feed, but that was when she was feeding every 3 hours or less! I've read things saying 1hr, I've read things saying just to make sure you dump it if it's not used at the next feed. My LO hasn't had an unfinished bottle in a while now tho, but my general rule of thumb has been 2 hours, anything else get used in a bath! Cuz once they drink from it they introduce bacteria and all, and she's gassy enough as it is lol
@Kelsey same @the gassy part 😂😂
Once the baby's mouth has touched the bottle the milk is only safe for an hour or two. If they don't finish it in that timeframe then it needs to be dumped, unfortunately.
I used to do two hours but a NICU nurse told me even there they will keep it longer and pop it back in the fridge (so long as you just barely warm it or it’s fresh milk) with breast milk only.
The WIC place said you can leave out your breast milk for 8 hours
