Actually just found this, it sounds like they do so may be worth asking at your next appointment? https://inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/i-paid-nhs-private-room-childbirth-114267 Also, found this at the same time and it's the clearest summary I've seen, so sharing in case helpful: https://www.homerton.nhs.uk/your-labour/
They do have private rooms but limited. I made the mistake of waiting until they wheeled me down after delivery to request and there wasn't a room available. Not sure on price, but your best bet is to let your mid-wife team on the labour ward know asap, so they can proactively arrange after delivery.
@Sabrina thank you 😊 I don’t have an account so the top article won’t let me read it but thanks for the other one.
@Merilyn thank you I have my elective booked and would like to discuss this but don’t have a MW app for another week > I’ll add this to my discuss list 😉
That's odd, I don't have an account and it loaded for me. The top section of the article at least. It just mentioned the experience with and without a private room at homerton.
@Sabrina thank you. I’ve not actually seen the ward. I made that mistake at my former hospital (Whipps) …. Ghastly! Family and friends have used Homerton tho and all recommend it ☺️
They do have private rooms, it's £150 a night for one with bathroom and £100 a night for one without. Make sure to put it on your birth plan and let every staff member you see know that you want a private room. I had to keep telling them. There wasn't one available when I left delivery suite but she put me on a list and I got it within a couple of hours
@Sumaya legend Thank you darl 🔆
Thanks All. I’ve just been told that at Whipps - the birth partner can stay the night?? This is news to me. Wonder if it’s the same for Homerton??
Yes it's same for Homerton too, my husband stayed two nights with me when I had both my kids in 2021 and 2023, other birth partners stayed on the ward overnight too so not just for those with private rooms
@Sumaya I had NO idea this was permitted !!!! This is great news!!! I wonder if I can swap my partner to my mum for my “night shift” 🤔
I think only 1 chosen person is allowed to stay the night but if your mum is your second birth partner you can swap but tbh I don't think anyone's checking
@Sumaya thank you! Something to ask next time I go in!!
@Ana thank you. I’d much rather my mum stay the night as she will be able to mum me! I won’t have her in for my section tho - baby daddy will be there then.
Also with Homerton and curious, so watching this 👀
