PGP exercises

Finally had my physio appointment today at 31 weeks after suffering with pain since 15 weeks. I’ve been told my pelvis is out of alignment as I’m hyper mobile and been given some exercises to help strengthen it. Just wondering if anyone else that was given exercises found it helped a lot or not? I’ve seen a lot of people say it did nothing but I will try them anyway

Did they offer you crutches? I am still waiting on my appointment, but the same as you I’ve seen a lot of people saying it didn’t really help!

The only thing I've found thay helps when mobilising is sucking in my stomach and the tubi grip I was given

@Margherita Surely the OP Wouldn't lie and the physio has said this to her?

@Leah no they didn’t but I didn’t ask as I am personally reaaally not wanting them (last resort type thing). I think if you were to ask though they would give some x

@Margherita bit weird to tell me what did or didn’t happen at my own appointment.. haha. She did say it’s out of alignment as my right side of my pelvis is higher than the left which she’s said is what’s aggravating the PGP more which makes sense as the right side is a lot more painful than the left. I’ve also been regularly to a chiropractor before being pregnant and have been told I have hypermobility a few times which the physio said is more common with PGP. She gave me a tubigrip and I’ve been using a belt too but hasn’t helped. I also have been regularly to pregnancy yoga/ pilates which has only made it worse so have been told to stop. I appreciate the comment but I’m not stressed at all, I’m typically very fit and healthy, and I don’t think it’s very helpful to suggest mindfulness as a preventative rather than a coping strategy

I agree Im not stressed either and have horrendous pgp. Strange comment to make to you

@Emily I will definitely be trying the tubi grip she gave me! I also have to suck in my stomach especially when rolling over in bed 🫠

@Emily thanks glad I’m not alone 😂

@Margherita like your advice is valid but you are basically calling the OP a liar. Plus a a healthcare worker myself should you really be giving such advice to someone who isn't directly under your care ie does your indemnity insurence through Hcpc cover this

@Margherita sorry but I very much agree with Emily… your comments are odd and there’s no need to be so rude to her. I understand where youre coming from but I think it does a lot more harm than good to give such advice online under the guise of ‘trust me, I’m a professional’ At the end of the day, I’m going to go with the advice from my physiotherapist who has seen and assessed me in person rather than someone who is claiming to be a professional to give advice, yet being very rude and unprofessional in doing so

@Margherita you’re still saying ‘if the physio said that’… why can’t you believe my experience what would I have to gain from not being honest? 🥴 I don’t think your comments about Emily creatjng drama aligns with your comment of wanting to empower women either. I understand stress can definitely cause sensitivity to pain but claiming that negative emotions cause PGP/ chronic pain is harmful and irresponsible in my eyes

@Margherita I wasn’t asking anyone for more help or advice, I asked if anyone has found the exercises helpful or not. Having differences of opinions online is fine, what I find rude is telling someone to stop creating drama and also to continually say you don’t believe my experience

I went through physio and gave the exercises a couple of weeks to work, but I was getting worse, in tears trying to walk and felt like I couldn't cope... A few appointments with an Osteopath have been absolutely life changing. I was still in a lot of pain after my first appointment, but it felt like everything was moving a lot better, and now it's much more manageable - honestly, I couldn't recommend seeing an Osteopath more :)

@Natalie thank you, I will look into this! Can I ask how far along you were when you went to the osteopath?

I think I was 29 weeks when I first went to the Osteopath, but soo wish I'd known about them sooner! She said my pelvis was very twisted to the left on my 1st appointment and I'm much more aligned now
