Is this a CMPA Rash?

Hi, my 6 week old has had a rash that wont clear. Originally started just on the face at 2 weeks old, i thought it was baby acne but then it spread to his chest, back, neck and arms. I have seen the doctor, been to a&e who have said it was just heat rash and even paid private doctor who diagnosed as toxicum amerythma and prescribed steroid cream which did clear it but after i stopped using it a few days ago its coming back again. He has normal korma poos and has never vomitted. He does have some feeding issues such as coughing and hiccups but he had a tongue tie and has a high palette so i believe those issues are down to that. He is perfectly fine in himself and has put on 4lbs since birth. He is slightly congested but could be his high palette. Im at my witsend worrying what this rash is and thinking it could be cmpa… Has anyone elses little one been diagnosed with an allergy from a rash alone? Does his rash look like it could be CMPA?

In my experience, if it was CMPA rash steroid cream wouldn’t get with it. But I’m not sure what it could be sorry.. I hope you get some answers soon as there’s nothing worse than not knowing🥺 x

It could be an allergy with all the symptoms but also they're explained with the issues you've mentioned. It could be due to your washing powder or bath products. I hope you get some answers soon xx

@Sunniva oh really, i didnt know if the cream would clear a cmpa rash or not. Yea, its the not knowing thats getting to me! Xx

I’ve never heard of that happening anyway🙈 my daughter had steroid cream for a while but it didn’t touch the rash she had from dairy. She grew out of it luckily. But others may have a different experience than me x

@YazmynJade yes my next thing was to change washing powder but i have only been using a fairy non bio pod and have only been washing him with plain water. So confusing when symptoms are crossed… xxx

It's so confusing when there's cross symptoms it could be worth going dairy free if you're breastfeeding for 6 weeks to see if thing clear up or if you're in formula seeing it the gp can prescribe one for 6 weeks and see if it helps at all to determine if it's cmpa or not x

I wouldn't think it's a dairy allergy since he's not refluxy and his stools are normal but then again, I'm not a doctor. If he doesn't seem to be bothered by it, I would wait a little longer and see if it just goes away. Erythema Toxicum usually disappears in a few weeks/months. If you're very worried and are breasfeeding, it's worth cutting out dairy and soy, the two most common allergies. It does take 6 weeks, as people have already mentioned here, before all the traces have left your body and you won't be passing it onto baby so you will need some patience!

@Miesje he is on the bottle so waiting to speak to a new doctor about formula etc… i think i will have to wait it out and see if it goes as he doesnt seem to bothered by it at the moment. Thank you for your advice xx
