Using a vibrator

Okay so I usually masturbate every night I have this thing where I get a feeling that I need to just masturbate other wise I won't fall asleep . Now I am TTC . My question is should I stop using a vibrator while I'm taking injections on my ivf journey. I am not inserting a dildo or anything just rubbing to climax . But now that I'm taking medication to start the ivf journy should I stop ??

Not sure what stage of IVF journey you’re on. But generally there’s no issues with using vibrators during the stimulation/egg collection phase. They just don’t want you having sex immediately prior to retrieval in case some of those sperm do break through (and especially if you’re at risk for OHSS). Once I was on the drugs to prepare for a FET, I was told to go on pelvic rest, so no penetrative sex OR orgasms for ~10 days prior to transfer.

It’s almost one of the final taboo subjects, not at all covered in IVF books, blogs or advice leaflets issued by clinics, and something I subsequently broached with one of the nurses during my IUI rounds. She noted in a natural cycle, that’s exactly what nature would be gearing up for around the time of ovulation - so could see no problem prior to treatment. Also, a great way of managing stress during a fraught period. As @Alexis says, around the time of transfer is a much more delicate time - I would ask your clinic and do let us know what they say. In my opinion, a topic we should be talking about much more openly - well done for broaching it.

Stims makes me so ridiculously horny that abstaining from any joy is nigh on impossible 🤣

@Alexis do you think sperm can break through during the retrieval stage and it leads to a pregnancy ?

@Zoletta I'll be honest one of my sisters has bought me the rose toy and I've been using it every night . It puts me right to bed . Ever since I've started stimulation I notice that I'll use it twice before bed . I am nervous to ask my fertility specialist or the nurses what they think about it because I don't want them to judge me the wrong way .

@Anna thats exactly how I feel
