Belly dancing

It's a bit of a long shot but did anyone here do belly dancing while pregnant to keep fit? If do were you able to carry on practising as normal till the end of your pregnancy, or did you modify your moves or do a slower style?

Hello! I actually stopped bellydancing a year or two before I got pregnant, coincidence nothing to do with getting pregnant or trying. If you're already belly dancing then you can as far as I know carry on as usual. The only thing to be aware of is that during pregnancy you are generally more flexible because of hormones (relaxin I think is called) so if you start dancing during pregnancy or do any new moves be conscious not to overdo it xxx

Long term bellydancer here with a 2nd due any day now! As long as your midwife/doctor oks it, you should be fine to carry on as normal. You may need to slow down a little towards the end depending on how you feel, but no need to stop completely. Bellydance is actually really good during pregnancy because it strengthens the muscles you'll use during labour 😊 xx

Thanks for the responses. I continued belly dancing after finding out about my pregnancy. However, I've not been doing it the last few weeks because I started getting self consious about my bump and worried about the choreo being too energetic. I would like to do online classes/ tutorials in a slower paced style but most seem to be aimed at complete beginners x
