Fighting sleep

My LO is just over 4 months and has recently been fighting going to sleep. We put him down and he starts playing with the crib…I try to breastfeed him to sleep (always worked in the past) and he just takes one sip, looks around and tilts his body out and head upside down looking at different things then takes another sip and the game starts all over again. He did this so much yesterday that he skipped his evening nap and today I can’t seem to put him down for his morning snooze but he’s so tired!…. Any ideas? His feeds have also become shorter because he keeps getting distracted 🤦🏻‍♀️

Unfortunately all incredibly normal at 4 months. They suddenly become a different baby! Sleep is a challenge and you might have to play around with what works x

So cute

Have you tried having the room dark for nap? It will be less stimulating as there’s much less to look at then when it’s hard to see anything

He’s learning new things! I always found with my nanny kids and now with my son, when they’re going through a developmental leap, their sleep suffers. They just want to stay awake and practice their new skills 🫠

For night feeds I switch of all the lights even the glow light, then he actually feeds and goes to sleep 🤦‍♀️

There is a growth spurt and a leap at that age. He's learning a new skill so will be fighting sleep more

@Sophie she does breastfeed him, that’s the whole issue that he is getting distracted on the boob

Sounds like the 4 month sleep regression to me 🫠

@Danielle she's a fake account

Thank you for the replies. Sleep is still all over the shop. Tried taking away lights etc that distract him but he still fights naps and wakes up every hour or two at night. I feel so resigned that I will just have to bear it until it passes. God I miss a good lie in or cat nap. Can’t seem to do any of that anymore

@Liz it will pass. He will definitely surprise you with a new skill
