Feed times/Routine for 6 week old

Hi Everyone!

My little girl is six weeks and we really don’t have a set routine and I read all these posts of people saying bedtime is at this time etc etc…..

How do you keep a set time or am I doing this all wrong?!

My little girl literally sleeps and eats….doesn’t really stay awake for long unless it’s bum change time and we can interact with her on her changing mat and get a few little smiles.

She will wake anywhere between 2-4hours of sleep so her feed times vary each day, they won’t be at the same times! how do you get them into some sort of routine of going to bed/waking at certain times because I’m lost how to do this!?

Congrats on your baby! 🎉
You are doing great as you are! You sound like a very loving and attentive mum! ❤️
Your baby is 6 weeks. There are no routines. Only responsive parenting.

Babies at that age are still in the fourth trimester. So kind of an extension of what they want and do in the womb. Just follow your babies ques and needs and all will be good. When they are older you can see a pattern emerge. Like when they wake up. How long they can stay awake and stuff. That is when a natural routine occurs.
Right now all your baby wants is to be close to you. 🥰

That is the very best you can do. So you are doing amazing ❤️
Take everything you see with a pinch of salt. At some point you can introduce all these things but not at the moment. It might help to read up on the fourth trimester to give yourself more reassurance. You are doing everything perfectly mumma ❤️

My baby is the same, 8 weeks old and responsive feeding. I don't even look at the clock. When he feeds between 7 and 10 pm. I get him ready for bed, if it's earlier we add in bath and story if he's calm enough. Nothing is in a routine yet. He rules the routine.

i’ve been feeding my 6wk old baby boy his usual 6oz when he’s hungry between 7 and 11 and after that i give him a bath, he has his dummy and then falls asleep cuddling with me and i put him in his basket. last night this was at 7:45pm and he woke at 1am for another change and feed

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰
