Breastfeeding injury

So my baby has been painfully biting me on and off She seems to have damaged my right side. Nipple is super sore and it looks like she did take some flesh with her :/ While it heals, I’ve resorted to exclusively pumping that side. I’ve been wary about giving her that milk because I have an open wound there. Wound doesn’t look infected and it is getting better on its own with time. What do you think about giving her the milk I pump from that side? I’ve been storing it in the fridge and plan to use it for her bath instead. Although I can tell she isn’t getting satisfied with just breastfeeding off my left side :/

I'm not sure about your question but would think it's ok, is there a breastfeeding support service in your area you could ask? I just wanted to comment to say it might sound harsh but I'd tell your daughter not to bite you and take your nipple out of her mouth when she doe. You can give it her straight back but just the action of taking it out will help teach her to stop. A lesson you definitely want her to learn before teath.

I’m gonna go to a women’s health urgent care to get the wound looked at. I just have to go tomorrow when I can go to work late

Every time she’s bitten me I take her off and don’t put her back on for at least another 30 mins She learned to bite right at the end of her feed so she doesn’t care🥲

Have you tried nipple shields?

@Roxy yes! I used them a ton in the beginning Now the silicone just makes her play around more and be rougher I still got sore with the nipple shield I’ll probably use once I’m better and get her used to it since the biting is rough

I would say the milk would be good as it comes out the spout of a clean source it's not really touching the flesh unless the sore is right on the exit of the nipple. The only bit the sore should be in contact with is the silicone funnal. Unless it's infected and weeping

Afaik it's okay for baby to drink milk from a nipple that has an open wound (remember some women get cracked nipples and bleed and it's okay to still feed that milk to your baby)

Update: I’m healed 😭
