PICO dressing followed by silicone dressings, postpartum belly binder, lose the baby weight gradually and you should avoid it. If you're using any lotions or potions to avoid stretch marks, apply these all the way down to your bikini line to help the elasticity. Take collagen supplements. Having an elective helps as the surgeon can take their time cutting and stitching the layers too.
@Holly this was really helpful thank you. Is a PICO dressing something the surgeon would have to apply? Or is it something I can get myself?
I personally found it depend on weight prior to pregnancy. for example I'm plus size anyway and now have an overhang since having my c section but I've seen pictures of woman size 8-12 who just bounce back
It's something the surgeon applies - ask for it when they book in your c-section and have your birth partner remind them again right after baby arrives (when they're stitching you up).
I've had one since my first section 12 years ago. I told them during this one (3rd) to cut the loose skin, I wish!
