Car seat

My son is turning 6 months and he hates being on the car seat at times and will throw little tantrums when I take him out and put him back in. I really don’t want to give him tablet/ phone … any recommendations 😭

I read somewhere / or saw video (can’t remember ) saying to try to loosen up baby’s diaper little bit because they might be little too tight when he/she seats on car seat

My son started hating the seat at 5 months. We tried loosening the straps, loosening the diaper, trying different clothing (too tight, too hot). The only thing that kinda works is instantly entertaining him, and non-stop continuous entertainment the whole ride. My husband distracts him with a toy while I strap him in and then I continue the whole ride. Musical toys, loud music, books, chew toys. etc.Basically whatever he likes at home, we now have to bring everything. Whereas before we’d bring one toy and a binky use it rarely and he’d sleep or look around. Times have changed.

Is he in an infant seat still?

@Pam ok I’m going to try that out let’s see if it helps

@Ellina yea I’ll give that a go at times I’m alone so all I can do is play him songs it helps most of the times

@Sam yes we’re thinking of getting him out of it

@Jennifer I would try it! A convertible seat has more recline range than an infant seat. We went straight to convertibles from birth because I watched how much my niece and nephew hated their infant seat.

@Sam what’s a convertible car seat?

@Laura it’s the seat you move your child into after an infant seat. It allows you to keep them rear facing but eventually be able to turn them forward facing as well. Our family favorite is the Britax One4life. It goes from birth to 120lbs. Rear facing until 50lbs, forward with harness and then booster (with car seat belt).

@Jennifer also try turning baby music on. Supposedly “Happy songs for babies” in Spotify is for toddlers but my baby loves it, she started listening to it from 2-3 months old and still loves it, 5 months + 10 days old currently
