It’s not required. 5 c-sections with my youngest being 1 and they’ve never told me to drink Gatorade before surgery.
I was never required to do this. They just asked that I made sure not to use certain soaps before surgery.
i had to do the same in UK, it’s because of the electrolytes
We use lucozade at my trust in the UK for elective sections. It’s been shown to help with blood pressure dropping when given a spinal anaesthetic
I was told not to drink or eat anything for at least 8 hrs
This is definitely a new thing for my third pregnancy. They gave me the same thing. One beverage the day before and a drink the other the day of. I think it prevents you from throwing up from the surgery and keeping you hydrated. My first two c-sections they didn’t give me that and I threw up both time. I think the drinks are the solution hopefully.
Oh, I understand now. Thank u, everyone. I honestly don't mind drinking gatorade, but the problem is my surgery is at 6 am. I would have to be awake by 3am to drink this.
@Clara I have to be at the hospital for mine at 5am so I definitely understand where you’re coming from
I had an emergency c section and I was drinking lots of fluids before and was also eating a bit here and there before I knew I was having a c section
Yes my OB had me do the same too.
