Baby unwell

Hey ladies, My baby just turned 3 months on Sunday.. he’s had a fever of 38c, runny nose & cough. just got off the phone to 111, been adv that it doesn’t sound alarming but to take him to A&E just to be checked by paediatrician. If I give calpol & wait to see if temp goes down is that bad? Asked 111 GP if I can give calpol he said if I want? Trying to avoid crowded environments because I live with an ill mother.
