To move or not to move

Currently my husband and I live in Pulaski, WI. We have 20 acres in Tomahawk, where we spend our summers camping. My husband wants to move there and sell our place in Pulaski. He told me if I moved up there (we do have two small children) I could start my hobby farm I always wanted which includes mini highland cows!! But I don’t know if I want to move to such a small town in the middle of the woods. Help me out. Would I get super lonely moving or would I love it and make friends?

I can’t say whether or not you’ll be lonely or make friends but your dream hobby farm would be amazing! I’m sure there are a lot of people to be friends with that way

I think too your children will help you make friends by them being involved in school, sports or other activites. Maybe your family and hobby farm will be fulfilling enough you never know.

I can't speak of those particular areas, but I'm up in northern door county. There's plenty to do on the daily, I don't think you would be lonely. But...the more rural you are...the harder the winter is. Roads don't get plowed, you could be out of power for days. And resources are limited. We have one grocery store that has jacked up prices, otherwise we are driving 40mins, which by the way is where doctors are. But I wouldn't change it for the world. We have a great, small school that my boys will eventually go. Once you meet people, it's a snowball effect because they will introduce you to others (but then also everyone knows ... everything... small town life).

@Katherine ohh yes we are a private road before the main so my husband take care of the road. Right now it’s about a 20 mins drive anywhere for us so I’m used to that. Anddddd we plan a house back up generator because even in Pulaski we lose power way more often and longer than normal lol

I personally wouldn’t. I would stay in Pulaski. I’ve lived in both and I would take Pulaski over tomahawk any day! Pulaski has a better school system. I understand the hobby farm, but maybe see if you can find some land close to Pulaski. I could say so much more, but truthfully even my husband would choose Pulaski over tomahawk.

I didn’t mind living in tomahawk as a kid. It’s one of those towns that you can mostly trust your kids to wonder around (when they are old enough) and not have too many worries about it. Not a lot to do though but you could always travel to Wausau or Rhinelander to do things. If you kids going into sports or any extra curricular at school you’ll be able to make parent friends there.
