PCOS

Just found out I’m pregnant I’m around 4+6 but today I’ve had blood tests back which I had due to trying for baby over a year anyway… all blood tests were fine but said I had high testosterone pointing at PCOS and now I’m being referred for scans. I’m so confused and have no knowledge on this. I’ve got a three year old where the pregnancy was normal nothing wrong at all but now I’m worried that this pregnancy is going to go wrong😫 how does PCOS affect pregnancy? Wouldn’t I have found I had PCOS before my first pregnancy?

Congratulations lovely!!! I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 21. I'm now 30 and currently 28+1 with a completely normal pregnancy so far. I have had a consultant appointment and due 3 growth scans from 32 weeks, but this is due to a separate autoimmune disease. I've also had a Gestational diabetes test that came back completely normal, all my bloods have been near on perfect. I was surprised that it only took me 6 months to get pregnant too after decided to 'not not try' after getting married. I think the key thing is to try to relax as much as you can, don't stress and look after yourself. Try to eat as well as you can and stay active. Totally understand that not everyone has the same experience or degree of severity with PCOS. I do consider myself very lucky with everything and just want to make sure I can stay as healthy ad possible. Hope this helps put you at ease a little 🥰

I have PCOS (diagnosed at 33!) and struggled to conceive for 4 years (I needed clomid to ovulate). But had a perfectly normal pregnancy with no complications. No gestational diabetes, natural birth etc. And now have a beautiful girl. As @Charise says everyone is different. Don't panic, follow medical advice. Relax and don't assume it'll all go wrong. Massive congratulations, wishing you all the luck in the world 🥰

@Louise Hi Louise, did you find that clomid helped you? I have had 3 x rounds of ivf and if my next transfer doesn't work I'm thinking of trying clomid.

@Jennifer I was incredibly lucky that clomid worked for us first cycle and I conceived my little girl who said now 6 months old 💕 wishing you all the best 🤞
