Currently serving

Due to go on maternity leave soon. Really really don't want to return. My house and support system is in the Midlands yet work In Scotland. I don't want to relocate away from all that to return to a job I'm not even passionate about. I'm just so scared to leave because I'll be a new mum and just doesn't seem like the right time to leave. But really can't see it working once baby arrives. Unless I make huge sacrifices. Anyone gone on maternity and then decided to leave their work place?

Hiya , I left but am currently going through the procedure of rejoining . If you have a job lined up then go for it . If not , I don't recommend it personally. After leaving I realised how many benefits the Army actually offers. I hated my job due to the negative atmosphere, but I'm re trading, so hopefully, it will be better round 2 😆

I'm currently serving on mat leave now and planning on leaving. Drop me a message as I was given some really good advice about this exact situation which might be useful to you

Not what you asked but incase you do end up staying and end up relocating and happen to be at helensburgh, the nursery at the patch is lovely and a lot of the staff are military spouses, there’s a lovely soft play at the community centre and great swim classes on at the leisure centre as well as sooooo many mums about and lots of parks. Hope everything works out however you want it to but incase not please don’t feel like you’d end up alone up here!

Definitely speak to your officer/padre about your concerns and what you are feeling. I think if they understand your concerns they will look to support you. The military does offer so many benefits and security, and it doesn’t seem like this is something you really want to do, so reach out and see what can be it in place to support you xx
