@Lauren hey, yes I’ve been signed off since about week 20 and it’s been a nightmare! I’m so lucky to have my parents support! It’s crazy! But even leaving the house will stop me from being able to move the next day it’s horrible. It’s so scary too because my legs just stop working because of the pain! I’m petrified of falling because of it!
@codie yes this is exactly what I was like! But by resting as much as possible, it meant I could do little bits, but I knew I’d be a write off! Sorry I cant help any further! Once baby is here it does subside (although for me it took a good few months to completely go back to normal!) x
Reflexology has saved me this time round x
@Lauren I honestly can’t wait to be done with the pain! It’s madness! Excited for baby boy to get here!
@Gemma ooo okay what does that entail?
Also swimming & a serola belt helped last time but the reflexology has been a dream this time. I couldn’t walk in my last pregnancy due to it. This pregnancy it started around 15w but I’ve been having regular reflexology. I’m 39w now and just been on a 2 mile walk - this time last pregnancy I couldn’t walk 2 meters x
@codie it’s really just a foot massage but there’s different areas on the feet that map to your body. I actually use it on my son when he’s not been for a poo for a while😂 I’d ask your midwife if she knows anyone that does it. 2 of my midwives do pregnancy reflexology as a side business x
Hello mums! Those who experienced pgp in previous pregnancies, how long until it goes away? X
@Gen after birth or during pregnancy? For me this time regular reflexology has helped manage it. It doesn’t usually go away until after birth when the hormone ‘relaxin’ released by the placenta is out of your body x
@Gen id say it took 5/6 months for me to feel completely better after birth! X
This is my second pregnancy with pgp but this time around is not as bad as my first for some reason. I’m working part time this time and I think sitting less is helping. I’m also not pushing myself to walk further than about 10 mins at a time and I’ve just had to accept it. It’s so miserable! I used the pelvic partnership website to find someone to see privately, in addition to the nhs physio, as I was desperate. They also have an insta page. I saw a physio and she did proper massage which helped me. Despite being on crutches for 3 months last time, my pain went pretty quickly after birth but my lower body strength was non-existent, so I had to build my strength back up slowly as I was quite weak. I had physio for a while afterwards too
Hiya, I was a bit like you in my first pregnancy, it started at 18 weeks, and unfortunately by 28 weeks I had to get signed off work, nothing apart from rest was doing anything, but I found after being signed off I could rest most of the time then when it came to doing something like food shopping or popping out I could! I know it’s not the best advice but is it something you’ve thought about? X
