A/L NHS

Does anyone know if after your maternity leave you’re entitled to take all of your accrued A/L from when you were off? Ive rolled over 142.5 hours and I just want to use those up and go back after that but my line manager was funny about it and I’ve looked and he has only put 2 weeks through (the hours works out at around 4 working weeks). He makes me feel like I’ve been on holiday for a year and that it’s been really inconvenient of me to have taken maternity leave for a year which bothers me cause it’s hardly a holiday is it. I’m so anxious to return or ask for anything 🙈

Odd as most companies prefer you to take it before you go back rather than trying to fit it in when you are back. I done 2 weeks and then used 3 weeks to go back part time but be paid full time. I always cc’d hr in my emails when arranging holiday and going back

Yes, you can use it all! I am doing this before I go back. Get in touch with HR.

Speak with HR. You're allowed to use all your holiday from whilst you were on mat leave and before, prior to going back to work. If HR are useless, check the government website and ACAS

Sorry you are having that experience - I completely understand why you are feeling anxious to return. Your manager should be making you feel as comfortable coming back as possible! I work in the NHS and my manager said it is the trust expectation to take all of the accrued annual leave at the end of my maternity leave. I have 230 hours left! She also gave me the option to carry over 5 days if I wanted. It is definitely the norm in my trust to take all annual leave at the end of the maternity leave! You are definitely entitled to take your annual leave as it would have been from the previous financial year I’m guessing? Is there someone else you can speak to about it? X

I had to split mine some before I started and then the rest now. Speak with HR x

Yep! You can use it all! Currently using all the leave I accrued in the last year which was something like 6 and half weeks. Also should have the BH added to your accrued leave as well. Definitely worth speaking to HR!
