Help

So… I’m 20 weeks today. When did everyone start getting their milk in? I haven’t got any signs of it yet. Infact besides from tiredness and being unwell I don’t feel pregnant at all. Anterior placenta so can’t feel it moving no bump as I’m plus size. I’ve waited sooo long to have a healthy pregnancy and experience it properly and I’m quite disappointed I haven’t got anything 🙈

Oh, goodness, 20 weeks is very, very early to be expecting milk to come in. Colostrum can start in the last few weeks but that is not milk and you should not be trying to extract milk. In fact, unless your colostrum is leaking, you shouldn't even really try extracting colostrum. Most women's milk doesn't even come in until after having the baby, can be days later.

You won't have any milk or even colostrum yet I'm 20 weeks today too if that helps and I don't have anything like that either my boobs are a bit sore but have been all along

Oh no I didn’t expect it yet! I just wondered when roughly people get it so I know that’s all! 😂 the rest I was just airing my frustrations we ttc for years multiple miscarriages and finally healthy pregnancy and it’s just not what I expected at all.

@Megan you could talk to a lactation consultant to sorta help set your expectations and get ready for the breastfeeding journey. It's not at all what I expected, and took weeks to get the hang of. The pain was a lot to handle, breasts were always sore, baby didn't latch and found out she had a partiel tie, there's just a lot of unknowns, so I suggest lots of research and use your resources

Thank you! I will try speak to one! The only thing I didn’t expect during pregnancy is how low my immune system would be I’ve had utis chest infections ear infections and now this stupid cough and throat infection over the last 3 weeks

@Megan utis are very, very common in pregnancy. In fact, it was basically my first sign lol I also have a history with bladder and kidney infections so my OB has me test every couple months or so to make sure we stay on top of anything. My sister had pneumonia and sinus infections basically the whole time she was pregnant 😅 the things we do for our babies lol

I never leaked whilst I was pregnant but have a really good supply now baby is here ☺️xx

I didn’t get anything out of mine until baby came out. And have now been exclusively breastfeeding for 19 weeks a very happy and healthy little one :)

I started leaking from about 21 weeks, but I had a huge milk supply, I never breast fed and pumped twice so I had some for baths and got 4 oz off each boob every time, and I’m now nearly 15 weeks post partum and still producing some how 😂

@Chelsea you're still producing even though you aren't pumping or breastfeeding? Can I ask why you aren't breastfeeding or pumping? Would save soo much money on formula lol I can understand if it's a comfort thing, just struggled to keep my supply up so having an over supply would have been a dream 😅

@Victoria yeah, and I have so much anxiety I was just really worried about it, and where I had so much of an over supply if I was breast feeding or pumping then i would have got mastitis a lot. Also we tried little man on a bottle of breast milk and he refused it. We tried about 3 or 4 times but he just straight up refused it and so formula was better for us. Also having an over supply really wasn’t that fun I was having to change my top every hour breast oads wouldn’t work as I was just dripping pretty much constantly, my boobs were so full all the time even after the couple times I pumped, pumping hurt because of that. I only noticed I was still producing as boobs are still sore so every few weeks I give a little squeeze and it still comes out.

Milk as in it leaking? That didnt happen during my Pregnancy at all. I also didnt feel any different until like the end of the second trimester/beginning of the third

You won’t get any milk in until 3-5 days after baby is born. From 16 weeks you might start producing colostrum but milk won’t come in until a few days after birth☺️x

@Chelsea Leaking from 21 weeks this is baby 6 for me and I've never had that I don't know anyone that has what did you midwife say when you told her that was happening

@Ann-marie she said it was normal, was colostrum to start with just a little then toward the end I’d wake up with a wet bed and shirt where I would leak x

20 weeks is far to early, I’m 36+5 and still nothing yet

But I also didn’t feel pregnant until around nearly 30 weeks😅😅

Normally your milk comes fully in 3 days after baby is born.

Im 20 +2, but i only get random nipple pains, very sharp and very itchy like.. buy no milk yet. Our bodies are still producing what's needed for the milk to come out, according to my doctors app Babyscript

Milk comes 3-5 days after baby is born! Before then you may be able to get some colostrum out, but you may not. It means absolutely nothing for your milk supply once baby is here so I wouldn't think about it at all.

This is my second pregnancy but in my first (my son is 19 months now) I didn’t show at all until around 20-24 weeks, I didn’t feel anything until around 24-26 weeks, I also had anterior placenta and they suspect I have it again this time but I’m showing way quicker just because my stomach has recently been stretched etc, it’s frustrating I totally get it but it will soon happen and you’ll absolutely love it when you do! Trust the process ❤️ xx
