Affordable Car Seat

Hi!!! I’m an immigrant who is an independent contractor doing Amazon deliveries with my personal vehicle so I definitely need a car seat. I have literally been living hand to mouth. The only i have bought for the baby is a blanket. However I have been looking for a car seat but they are super expensive. Where can I find one that doesn’t exceed $70 like with base and everything because I am planning to keep working after 2 or 3 days of giving birth. Also can someone please help me make a list with only the absolute necessity that I should get for myself and the baby. I would appreciate it a lot.

You’re a superstar girl!! Facebook market place is a good start, but make sure you ask for the expiration date before you buy. Facebook BuyNothing or Trade groups can also be really helpful. It may be more expensive upfront, but a convertible car seat that can go from birth to like 7 years may be worth it for you so you don’t have to buy a new one when baby grows. As for necessities, babies need 3 things in the beginning: food, sleep, and a clean butt. Absolute necessities relate to those: diapers, wipes, crib/bassinet (we just use a thrifted pack n play), swaddles (get the Muslin ones to double as burp cloths), bottles and formula if that’s your route, and of course clothes (just get sleepers and onesies tbh). My personal preference for driving with a baby, I would add a car mirror and sun shade. WIC can help with groceries and some other necessities for you until 6 months postpartum and your baby up until 5 years old. Hopefully that frees up some wiggle room for baby firs

Look up pregnancy care centers near you they may have new or lightly used things you can buy for less money. Best of luck to you hopefully you can take some more time to heal and enjoy your baby.

In addition to what they suggested, you could search on Facebook for buy, sell, trade, pages in your area. If you have a store near you called Once Upon a Child, they usually have lots of car seats, strollers, clothes, and toys that people take there. I also just searched women centers in your area and found this. You can take educational classes (usually online) and earn points to spend on necessities for baby in their store. https://expectingmiracles.com/

This site should have the address. https://www.pregnancyresourceclinic.org/pregnancy-help

Also check goodwill you might be able to find good stuff there. Create registries in Babylist and Amazon you just need to buy 10 dollar stuff and pay shipping and you receive some bottles, pacifiers, and at least one bib, onesie, muslin

Depending on where you live some programs give out car seats. Also fb baby groups are always giving out good stuff for free!

Thrift stores tend to have good stuff but start w programs first (do a google search for your area) & then go from there.

Local churches as well
