Potty training and pants!

We had five days potty Trainning at home and worked so well. My boy is two and half. How when we go out he suddenly keeps setting himself and doesn’t even tell us like he did at home whenever he has pants and trousers on. So we are changing him constantly. We don’t want to take a back step with nappies but any advice? We keep asking him all the time but we ask him then he just wees a couple of minutes later. So going on the potty when we are out he isn’t enjoying any tips please? 😊

Don't go back to nappies, just keep at it I know it's hard because you have lots of washing and feel like you're taking a step back but this is all so normal you just have to keep reminding them that they need to go for wee wee and poo on the potty or toilet, you'll find then even when you ask and they say they don't need to go they actually do so can you get into the habit of just sitting him on the toilet or potty every hour or so to get him used to it and learn that that's where he now needs to go, it's all new to them when you think about it all they've known for 2.5 years is to wee in their nappy it just takes time but he will get there, try and make it exciting and reward with stickers and lots of praise let him wash his own hands and flush the toilet ect he will get there it just takes time

Also make sure he goes to the toilet or potty before leaving the house

Thanks lovely! Yes we really don’t want to go back. Obviously at night he is wearing them but no where near as much done in them anymore. But out and about he isn’t so keen on his potty but we just keep asking him. Just so upsetting when we had nothing at home for days then we out and pants are on he thinks they are nappies we think.

I got my daughter to choose her own travel potty for when we are out and about and she loved it. We also took a toddler seat that sit on public toilets at first she was scared to sit on the toilet without one so would refuse to go to the toilet!

@Hannah yeah, it's a lot for them. My daughter was the same, and we would have accidents when wearing pants as they've just been so used to weeing in there nappy it can be confusing for them. My LO has been potty/toilet trained for a while now as I started when she turned 2 but just keep at it hum, keep praising and taking them on touket break when you're out, try and get him used to the toilet and public toilets too that will help and he will get there I promise

Also don't worry about night time nappies I still use pullups for bedtime as she wees alot still in her sleep. Xx

We also have steps and a seat for the toilet which she loves using, you could try those to get him ises to using the toilet and a step to wash his hands which should them make him feel comfortable using public toilets xx
