Pregnant after a C-section...

Any second time mummas who had a C-section first time around having pain around their scar? I was told it was starting stretching as my belly grows but it's so achy and slightly painful. Not really sure what to do

I suffer with this, every time I’ve spoken to a midwife about it they’ve said it’s just stretching and pressure on a wound that is still reasonably fresh - I had mine in November 2021 so less that 2.5 years ago. I felt a lot of pain with it around 12-16 weeks then it tailed off for a bit but it’s ramped up again since 28 weeks. No one seems really concerned about it and see it more of something that comes with the territory of pregnancy after surgery. I keep topped up on paracetamol when it’s bad and a hot water bottle makes it feel like the muscles relax slightly too. Don’t know about you but if I need a wee, the pressure on the scar aches too. It’s not too much longer now girl x

@Jessica I never thought about a hot water bottle. That's definitely worth a try. I had mine in April 2021 but since about 12 weeks it just feels stretched. Doesn't help that baby seems to be quite low down all the time and her movements don't help with the aching and pains. Definitely not going to miss being pregnant after this 😂

You could try some scar massage to release the tissue?

@Laura it’s really uncomfortable and you’re right, the lower down that baby is, the worse the pressure on it is. I’ve been the same, this baby has been low a lot more than my first - I say that, I might just feel it more because of the scars and aching. I had trouble explaining the feeling to midwives at first too. Are you going for a VBAC this time or another section?

@Jessica I'm having a planned section, mainly because my son was really poorly and needed a lot of oxygen when he was born so we thought it would be safer. I will try vbac if I happen to go into labour before the scheduled date (obviously if it's at a safe time to do so) but considering my first was 10 days late I'm not holding much hope of that 😂 What about yourself?

@Laura that makes sense, I’d feel safer too. At my 20 week scan they said I had a low lying placenta and they checked to see if it had moved at the 28 week scan and it hasn’t budged at all. They’ll check again at 36 weeks but if it hasn’t moved then I’ll have to book another csection. I’m up for whatever is safest tbh so I’m not upset at the prospect of having another csection, just find it a bit daunting recovery wise with an energetic 2 year old and no family local to us but it is what it is I suppose!

@Jessica that's fair, nothing you can really do to help the placenta move really. At least you know what recovery will be like. I'm so glad baby will be a summer baby because it means I can open the back door and my crazy 3 year old can play out there as well. I originally wanted a winter baby but the idea of being cooped up in the house with him would drive me insane. This last winter was bad enough 😅 Sorry you don't have any family local to help, hopefully you'll still have lots of visitors and help
