Who has gone for iron infusions?

Just want to know what to expect I hate needles and IVS in general, just wondering what it feels like , some IVs have given me a weird taste in my mouth, or just feel uncomfortable going in my arm. I have to get six done hoping baby girl waits for them to be all done

I don’t hate needles or anything of that sort but for me it’s honestly not that bad! I actually rest during that time since it’s the only time away from my toddler I have 🤪 Like others have recommended for me is to make sure to go at least on a semi full stomach because the minimum you’ll be there for is like 1 1/2 hours.

I did three rounds of iron infusions each one week apart. It took a few hours. I felt hungover for days after each one which my OB said was because my body could finally produce the red blood cells I needed. They told me I could feel flu like for a couple days after but fortunately i didn’t have anything like that. Was just so tired. It helped with my restless legs though!

I thought they were painless. You do get a bad taste in your mouth at the beginning and end when they flush out your IV, but that’s a good thing because it means it’s in your vein. Mine took 30 minutes, then I had to wait 15 minutes after each time for observation. I hate needles too and I just looked away the whole time. I brought a book with me and that helped!
