How much would you pay for a newborn/maternity studio photoshoot?

Hi ladies. I'm posting anonymous because I don't want it to look like I am advertising. I will be a first-time mom in about 7 weeks. I am a photographer with 7ish ears of experience. My main focus has been real estate, but I have experience in professional fashion, events, newborn, and maternity. I am looking to open a studio. It's always been a dream of mine, and I finally found a very good space that I can actually afford. Also, my regular job requires me to work very long shifts, often leaving me working to the middle of the night. Working 7 days a week, on Christmas, birthdays, etc. So it will be good to have time regular scheduled work where I can actually spend time with my family. I am turning to you because I need to figure out what to expect as interest and what people would be willing to spend on a newborn and maternity photoshoot. What are your thoughts on spending money on professional studio photography? I am also thinking of offering options for people who have smaller budgets. Something like mini sessions. Thank you in advance

We've got one booked with the lady who did our maternity shoot and we're paying £250 for 10 edited photos and then we can pay more if we'd like more

I paid £350 for mine and she came out to my house but did have the option for the studio. I believe I the pics on a usb, 5 printed pics and 10 edited pics. Something I do like is that I’ve continued booking her for “seasonal family shoots” she sets a theme and each family has a 20min slot for £150 5 edit pics or extra£85 for the whole gallery. I believe she has like 10slots per day and only do 1 of these days per quarter.

It is better to check around your area to see what is offered. The price varies depending on what is included and how long is the photo session, if it is in a studio, at home or outdoors.

150 for 8 good photo Is fair . Some people charge more but I think if you do it reasonable your get more customers. It also depends on where your studio is located

And you have to build up a portfolio before you can charge market rate, so also think about volunteers, good deals or giveaways to start.
