Contraception - copper coil
Hey girls I’m looking into contraception options and never got along with the implant or the pill (not combined) so was looking at the copper coil. Finally got an appointment for it but it sounds quite uncomfortable putting in so was just wondering your experiences having it put in and just living with it?

I personally had quite alot of pain with mine, I’ve had 2, a lot of cramping type pain and felt I couldn’t stand straight and some blood. It only lasted day and next day was fine. Take pain relief and try to relax as much as possible because tensing up does make it more painful my

I was told to take 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen one hour before my appointment.. I completely forgot. Honestly.. A sweep is more uncomfortable and painful!! My personal experience, I barely felt it. I’ve had it in for 6 months now. All I would advise is to ensure you are always wearing at least a panty liner, as you can have very random spotting for the first few months.
