Barking

I am at my wits end with these dogs. A bird flies by the window and they start barking like a bunch of asshats. My SO doesn't want to put Bark collars on them so I'm on the hunt for something that will help. Any suggestions?

I have one that likes to bark. The only thing that even remotely works on her is the bark collar. We have one with a remote and we can make it beep, vibrate, or shock.

It sounds like they might be bored/need enrichment. Maybe look into lick pads or kongs to keep them busy. I also will fold up a towel with kibble in it and they have to sniff it out/find their food. A 20 minute sniffing session is like an hour long walk. When dogs get bored they bark/chew up things/get destructive sometimes

I use an e collar on my dog it has a setting to where I can put on shock vibrate sound or all of them

We have used a couple options. The shock/vibrate/beep collar. We trained our dogs to come to the beep so we could go on walks using it and the vibration as a stop/ no/leave it command. Jump, bark, run after something sniff something they shouldn't. We also have a remote that makes a noise we can't hear that we can push a button for. You can also get a box for barking that is the same as a collar but is mounted and not dog specific.

I have a dog whistle. I have a chihuahua, and he barks at everything. He would always wake my baby up from her naps. But when I use the whistle, he stops immediately. Now I don't really have to use it much. I can just say the word, and he will go sit down. It even worked on the neighbors dogs. They would come to my fence barking and chewing at the fence every time we came out. I used the whistle a few times, and now they just sit and look. And we've actually become friends, lol. You just have to be consistent with using it. I kept mine on a string, and it was always with me. Just a quick blow is enough to get everyones attention. As soon as my dogs started barking, I'd used it. So, it was an immediate response to the action. It's even good to take on walks

I have a bull terrier (with a ton of energy) and I needed to have my dog house trained to live in our first apartment, I had a trainer come weekly for about a month, we did use the vibrational/shock collar to help her understand commands, yes/no, etc.. I buy a ton of toys and kongs for her with her favorite snack in it to occupy her through out the day if I’m busy with my little one. And to this very day I still put the collar on her which she has no problem with, and knows how to behave when it’s needed most. 90% of the time I find myself not even needing to use it, but more as a reminder that she can’t be constantly barking, waking up the baby from her naps, etc. it’s done wonders for us and she is still the happiest pup around! I hope this helps💜

Just start reinsuring them that what they’re doing is ok. they are making you aware that something is outside. One day if something ever bad happens and someone breaks in your house . You will need your dog to do that. I encourage my dog to do it because It gives me a sense of security. If they do it and you work on being quiet in the house give them a treat once they are quiet .
