Whaaaaat, that's awesome! Are you hand expressing or pumping?? My midwife told me to wait till 36 weeks, I wonder why🤔. Either way, you go mama😊

@Kaylin at first she told me to wait until 36 but ive been leaking bad!!! so she said to go ahead and start collecting it! Thank you!!

If your leaking colostrum there’s no concern with collecting it, you should not be expressing or squeezing out any colostrum prior to 36/37 weeks bc it can induce labor. Every woman’s body is different, some people won’t even have any colostrum until they go into labor, some woman are leaking by 30 weeks.

Exactly how did you collect it? Straight into the syringe or from out of a cup/container?

@Indy into a sterile bowl, then put it into the syringe

@Kaylin hand expressing! and she said no more than 2.5 minutes on each side once every other day ☺️

Lol can someone explain what this is... *clueless*

@Ankita Colostrum is the milk produced during the first few days after birth (can happen before) and contains high levels of immunoglobulins, antimicrobial peptides, and growth factors. Colostrum is important for supporting the growth, development, and immunologic defence of neonates

Woah thanks for the explanation! Googling neonates now.

YAYYYYY

That’s awesome!! How far a long are you that you have the okay! To do so?

I'm just curious as to why. I've breastfed 5 babies and just put them on the boob once they're born and we go from there. Babies don't need more than they can get those first few days before the Milk comes in. What do you do with the colostrum you collected?

@Tallya you feed it them from the syringe, midwives recommend you take your syringes into hospital in a named back and put into the fridge and feed baby once born

@Jazmyn she said she's 33🤷🏾‍♀️ weeks

@Tallya helps for those who are planning on exclusively pumping. Wish I would've collected my first pregnancy cuz I wasn't able to get her to latch 🫤 their able to feed to baby once the syringes thaw. Plus it's helpful in case baby is hungry and mother is either resting, showering etc. Someone else can feed while mommy can focus on recovering. They actually gave me syringes to fill and feed her with since she wouldn't latch n I wanted her to have breakmilk. Had me pump and put the colostrum into the syringe
