@Kayleigh obviously I wouldn’t start work though until am due to go back which is August/September time. Am asking if she can stop it if I’ve accepted a new job role for when am due to go back to work
I don't know about all companies. But I know for mine, if you leave work before working 6 months after your maternity leave ends, you have to pay everything back. May be worth checking their policies xxx
Notice period should usually be the same as when you work normally. So if the new job doesn’t start until September and your notice period is one month, notify in August that you’re resigning. Statutory maternity pay you will never have to pay back but check your company policy for anything they say about enhanced maternity pay, as some will say you have to return to work for a certain amount of time. If you have an HR rep, you can ask them.
@Amy Luckily I only get statutory maternity pay. My boss doesn’t pay me anything else so I won’t have to pay anything back and sadly we don’t have a HR as it’s a private nursery that I work within x
@Chelsea I’d only have to pay it back if it was my boss paying it or if it was enhanced. I only get statutory maternity pay and we don’t have a policy for maternity and pregnancy so I can’t check that and that’s why I’ve popped it on here just incase someone might know x
If you only get SMP then just give your notice when required and they can’t make you pay that back, no :)
@Amy So I’ll be okay to hand my notice in once am sorted with my new job? Because if anything I’ll just return to work sooner they will obviously need to find a new staff member to take over from me x
Yep just as soon as you have a start date give notice in line with your notice period I would :)
Yes, you're not entitled to maternity pay Inc SMP if you're working.
