I had a c section with my first. Loose clothing and pjs (you will have to stay in 24 hours minimum) Gripped shoes/socks/slippers (the faster u get up walking the better the recovery but don’t push urself, u want grips so u are less likely to slip and fall) Toothpaste and toothbrush Soaps (not required to shower but you can ask the nurses if you are feeling a little icky) Maternity pads Massive knickers or boxers Breast pads Sports bra/maternity bra Nipple cream (mainly if ur breastfeeding) A water bottle (they won’t let u be discharged until u have passed enough urine and breastfeeding can make u really thirsty) Snacks Hairbrush and bobbles Activity book Ready made milk (just incase baby doesn’t latch if ur breastfeeding) Nappies Wipes Nappy rash cream Cotton wool (sometimes the coldness of wipes scare the baby so ask for some warm water to dip cotton wool in to wipe baby) Woolly hat (these can also be provided by hospital) Outfits (incase of blow outs pack at least 5) Blankets
I'd add a postpartum belly binder. It makes it so much more comfortable to move around and helps recovery. They're actually given as standard after c-sections in the US 😅
I'm sorry your plans have changed mama 🤍 I'm having an elective and I'm a scar therapist that works with section mums so my list for specific c section things is: Peppermint tea and chewing gym for the trapped gas after Stool softeners/laxatives High wasted pants (Frida mom do c section disposable ones) A small pillow to brace scar when sneezing/coughing/pooing and to protect scar on car ride home Pads as you'll still bleed The standard nightdress or two/change of clothes, your own towel, snacks for after, big water bottle for hydration! Highly reccomend c section UK - they do a course for £99 on prep, birth and recovery from c section and it'll put your mind at ease and tell you everything you need to know for all stages 🤍
