Diapers and potty training

Curious to know what people’s preferences are for diapers. I’m leaning towards using cloth/reusable since it’s a much more sustainable option but struggling to make a decision. Also, at what age do people generally start potty training and getting kids out of diapers? Growing up in Canada I’ve always thought between 2.5/3 years, but now I’m in the UAE and learning that a lot of parents start much earlier - about 12-16 months. Curious what everyone is considering.

I bought secondhand cloth diapers, that way if we realize we can't keep up with it we aren't out a ton of money. I'm planning to start potty training between 18-24 months. I'm in the US where 3 is pretty standard, but the few people I know who started earlier had a much easier time.

My kid is fighting me with diaper changes, and he wants to sit on the potty more. He's 20 months, so we're about to start him in pull-ups in a few weeks.

I'm a FTM due in June and I put a few cloth and more disposable diapers on the registry... I don't want to stress myself out in the beginning since I'm a FTM but hoping that as I get the hang of things I'll use mostly cloth...

Ya I started potty training by 18 months and she picked it up super quick. Going to start putting my 7 month old on the potty a couple times a day soon to get her used to it. My almost three year old has been night trained as well just after 2. My friend waited till later and had a heck of a time. This wait until they say they are ready is silly.

I’d wait until they show signs of readiness (fighting diaper changes, telling you when they’ve gone potty, being dry for extended amount of time) but also introduce concepts early (pulling pants on and off, handwashing, sitting on the potty? etc)

We're doing Dyper brand for newborn and then adjustable cloth diapers from Norah's nursery once she's big enough to fit into them (she's predicted to be a little small and their adjustable sizes only fit so small, plus wanted to give myself an easier time at the beginning). Will probably keep a few disposables on hand as she grows into other sizes for when we're out of the house, but playing that by ear. We've installed a spray bidet on our master toilet to spray solids off of the reusable diapers. Haven't thought about potty training yet, taking this one step at a time 😂

I like the ease/convenience of disposable diapers. My toddler is potty training now at 20 months
