I'm currently having this happen with my 3 week old as well.
If you can try in your pram? I was wrapping my wheels in cling film so could do in the front room so I could rock her to sleep 🤣 also baby wearing was a hit with mine too xx
A lot of the advice we get is to keep daytime sleep bright etc ao they know the difference but my little one has refused to sleep if its not pitch black since 3 weeks so if youve been following that id try darkness 🤣 takes the highest quitest pitch of shhh and a lot of rocking to get her off, i hold her as if shes laying on her side as its usually one of the most comforting positions for baby to be held. I make sure mid wake window is something she likes to focus on, a song, a game so she has less fomo as that seemed a problem too haha. It could just be boredom when you first try get him down, move to another room n if he stops showing any tired cues hes more than likely just bored and needs a lil more tiring out
Pram walks and the sling helped hugely tho, never failed to fall asleeo in either
The carrier was a lifesaver during this period. The only thing that got us through!
The first few weeks were really easy on us too and then we had to figure out how to soothe her to sleep. What works for us was white noise, dark room, swaddle and I sit on an exercise ball and bounce her to sleep and then pit her in her bassinet very carefully.
Getting out pushing the pram was the only way I could get mine to sleep in the early weeks
It sounds weird but go to YouTube and type in baby chainsaw or something like that. It’s usually the second video with a red chainsaw and is like 2 hours long. I kid you not, from when my baby was born we heard to try this video with her when she’s over tired and crying and here we are, a week shy from 6 months and it still works like a charm! Within 5 minutes of listening, she’s out like a light!!
I used to battle with my little girl for day time naps. I always thought you had to pick your sleep battles - day time or night time… and I’d rather spend most of the day getting her to sleep than most of the night! I used the huckleberry app and it’s got brilliant tips for sleep. If my daughter woke up too early, I’d leave her be for about 10-20 mins (providing she wasn’t screaming the place down) just to see if she’d drop back off. I’d say 80% of the time she did, and she’d continue her nap as normal! I’ve put the link to a huckleberry blog below for 1 month olds. There’s a post for each age and it’s well worth having a read xxx https://huckleberrycare.com/blog/1-month-old-sleep-schedule-and-development
Thank you for the suggestions! I think he's not much of a sleeper but trying out some of these has definitely made nap times easier! Car rides, pram walks and sling have definitely been great for helping him drop off. Thank you everyone :)
If in doubt, with both of my boys when they were newborns, popping them in the sling or carrier, and cracking on with jobs around the house or going on a walk in the fresh air.
