How do you know when you need another lap?

My pains getting really bad again and I’m getting kinda scared :/ my first and only lap was dec 2022. I have mostly learned to deal with it but last night it had me in tears 4 times within half an hour I couldn’t move because the slightest little movement felt like I was getting stabbed in the ovaries 🙃 this lasted all night and was still pretty sore when I woke up but slowly calmed down through the day

Possibly you need one now? If I was you I would ask for an MRI to check for deposits of endo and scarring. How well did your Dec 2022 lap help your pain? I had a top surgeon do mine and he removed everything but my pain was never removed and I had to find alternative methods to feel better. The surgeon blamed adenomyosis for the lack of pain improvement. After about 3 years, mirena and progesterone only pill at the same time, diet etc, I got my life back and had a baby so it must have helped fertility even if not pain. I would also see how the rest of your cycle goes and see if your next period is just as bad before booking a lap as some periods will be worse than others. If your 2022 lap helped a lot then another lap is likely to help. If it didn't help then look into other methods or a different surgeon

@Alex I’m going to look into an endometriosis specialist for my next lap as my last one was done by a gynaecologist at the hospital. They found stage one endo and removed *most* of it. It did help my pain and I fell pregnant 6 months later, my pregnancy went well and I was fine until about 10 months pp (at 14 now and it just seems to be getting worse) I’m currently on the mirena so I don’t get periods but it seems like that just means pain all month round 🙃

I would research for an endo specialist on https://nancysnookendo.com Also loads more resources there. Found my surgeon there and he is one of the best in the world. Would suggest not to use a general gynaecologist again.

@Amanda thanks I’ll have a look. When I tried to look look up the surgeon that done it (this was only recently tho I didn’t know enough about it at the time) he does have endometriosis on his list of I think it was general interests. Idk if he did at the time of even what that really means 😅 I’ve been struggling to find a specialist close enough in the uk tho
