Constipation but very TMI ***
Hi all would really appreciate any advise or if anyone has been through this. My little girl is 2.5 years old and she's been on movicol for nearly 4 weeks however still struggling to go to the toilet. It took 3/4 days for her to go to the toilet and half was really dark green almost black whilst the other half was pale and dark green. Going to ring the GP in the morning but does anyone have any advise would be much appreciated

Hi! My son is 3 and has been struggling really badly with constipation for months but we seem to be on the mend from it now🤞🏼 we are under the paediatricians in the royal and he’s had more appointments/A&E trips than I can count because of it. I would definitely say to contact your gp, how much laxido is she taking? Feel free to message me and I can try help x

hey! My little girl is also struggling terribly with constipation. We’re struggling so much to get enough laxative into her every day. At night she screams for hours in pain and so many times I’ve considered taking her to a&e but every time we never end up going as I felt we’d be wasting their time but maybe I’m wrong?! 😫 do you mind me asking what symptoms your son has when you take him to the hospital? I feel awful we’ve been putting it off now! Thanks so much x

hey! So sorry to hear your daughter is struggling so much too, it is so hard seeing them like that😩 your welcome to message me anytime! I felt the exact same way as you but I just couldn’t cope watching him scream in pain begging me to help him😢 I think we have took him to A&E twice because of the constipation and tummy pain. Never feel like you are wasting your time, you always know best! Xx

I have the exact same with my 2.5 year old daughter. I feel like the only time she poos is with laxatives. She goes 4 days without pooping each time and just gets bellyaches all the time. Such a worry! Don’t know what to do to help her. Try giving her prunes, more water etc. I wonder if children this kind of age suffer with it due to potty training also? I’m going to get her checked out again and see if she can get referred. I get super anxious as I Crohn’s and so worry she’ll have it 😢

hopefully they will take it more seriously as you have a GI diagnosis! I have found that our GP has been quite disinterested and really doesn’t understand how much distress it causes the whole family. We found that a stimulant laxative like senna plus and osmotic laxative like movicol worked well. Good luck 😊

thank you so much! I will definitely next time, the GP said they same thing but then was very disinterested in doing anything that would help! Luckily I pushed for an appointment at the hospital so we have that in July. Thanks again for your reply 😊
