We took home blankets from the hospital that we used for the babies so our dogs could smell them before we brought them home. We have always had our dogs in our bed, so we made it a point to never kick them out so the babies could co-sleep. I also started walking as soon as I possibly could after having my babies so I could continue walking my dogs. Hope these help!
I never worried about it. My husky/lab mix is scared of babies so she stays clear of them until they become mobile then she'll slowly start loving on the baby. My chihuahua didn't give us a choice he was curling up to my sons legs from day one. Cried next to his bassinet for 10 minutes before we finally introduced him to the baby. My chihuahua is the more baby oriented of the two.
We have two dogs so my husband made them sit and he had them one at a time smell her while he held her if it looked like they were getting too excited he we would stand up and make them sit again. For my sister in law we gave her a hat with her scent on it so her dog could get used to the smell
I need to follow along here cause we have 3 dogs 😬
