Hope - pregnancy after RMC

I don’t know who needs to hear this but I know that last year, after two recurrent miscarriages, I did. I was referred to the RMC and given progesterone to take up to 12 weeks. I’m now 27 weeks, about to enter my third trimester with a healthy little girl, kicking away as I type this. When you’re in the midst of miscarriages and TTC it can be all consuming and so hard but better days are coming. There is hope. If you can, get progesterone - it works. I hope this doesn’t upset anyone, my intention is to make people feel better. I have a best friend who went through something similar last year. A year ago we were broken, crying together at our losses. Today I’m 27 weeks, she’s 16 weeks and we’re both expecting baby girls later this year. A lot can change in a year and it will for you too. Stay strong, better days are coming 💖

Hi, thanks for this. Just had my second mc so appreciate it. Congrats, too! Wondering what RMC is please and how you got a referral? (Not sure if you're in the UK?)

Thank you for this. I’m waiting on a referral to RMC - what tests did they run for you?

@Sophie I’m really sorry to hear that, every loss is devastating, make sure you take time to process it and rest. Sorry, that’s the recurrent miscarriage clinic. You should be referred to it if you’ve had two or more miscarriages and they’ll do further tests then put you on a treatment plan. After my second miscarriage the nurse at the early pregnancy unit referred me. I’m in Leeds so this was at St James Hospital

Thank you. That's interesting, I'd thought it was 3 or more. Perhaps it depends on the area? I didn't go to the EPU this time round as it was a chemical but could maybe try asking the GP

@Emily they did lots of tests like check my thyroid, rubella immunity, hormone level tests, general blood tests, lupus etc One of the thyroid tests came back under reactive but they did two more and it was fine so basically they found no reason as to why I had miscarriages. They could have just been chromosomal abnormalities and unlucky but I didn’t want to risk it with a third so gave me progesterone

@Sophie yeah depends on the hospital. The nurse said a lot are 3 miscarriages but they refer after 2. You could ring up the EPU and ask if they’d refer you? Or just say you’ve had three…

Yeah it might be worth asking. I also have thyroid issues (although levels were controlled in both pregnancies so unlikely that was the cause) so they might see me after 2. Thanks for the advice and all the best for your pregnancy 😊

Thank you for this, needed today 💛

Thank you - I needed to hear this! 🥰 I too have had 3 consecutive recurrent miscarriages in the past 8 months! Saw the RMC a couple of weeks ago who gave me progesterone. I tested positive on Sunday so began to take it! Praying it works for me as I have heard soo many positive stories! Congratulations 🌈✨💖

@Jenn Tinsley wow, that’s a tough 8 months. But this time! Things are different and you have progesterone. Good luck and sending positive vibes 💖

@Sophie unfortunately I had to do a lot of chasing and asking, otherwise it takes ages and things don’t happen. I’d definitely mention your thyroid issues. Thank you and wishing you good luck. You’ll get your rainbow baby

Thank you!
