Baby helmet

Has anyone had to get a baby helmet for their LO misshaped head? My son just had his 6 month checkup and she recommended a helmet to even out his head. She said we have up until 18 months to decide if we want to get one for him but I kinda figured once he starts crawling it’ll even out on its own? My insurance doesn’t cover it and i read they can cost up to 3000 dollars… pediatrician states it’s just a cosmetic thing so i don’t know.

We were concerned about our son’s flat spot in this head. We mentioned it to the doctor at our 4mo appointment and they referred us to Physical Therapy. It took us almost 2 months to get in and at his appointment they just showed us exercises to do to strengthen his neck.. an older friend also told us to gently rub his head like a snowball(?) and it’s supposed to help. I would say it really depends on how misshapen his head is.. once they are moving around more and not always sleeping on their backs seems to help too

I don’t know anything about this but… is this something you could potentially buy second hand?

@Bree I think it’s customized to each baby’s head circumference

@Bree Unfortunately not. They measure the head specifically so they can have the helmet molded to even out/round out the head.

My baby will most likely have to get one
