I don't know if I'm over reacting

I'm 11 weeks pregnant & just found out our dog groomer has changed to a new salon. We go tonight. November 2022 we went to the groomers for the first time. Her salon was on a fairly quiet road with loads of other quiet roads going off it. The worst thing happened. The client before us picked her dog up after we dropped ours off, and left both gates wide open. The groomer didn't know this let mine out for a wee break and he ran out. Got a panicked phone call & after searching for about 2 hours found him. Thankfully fine but as you can imagine traumatised, as we're we. She's been his groomer as it wasn't her fault. She's since added spring loaded gates which shut automatically so it doesn't happen again. Today I get a message with the new address. I'm so worried its on the front of a major A road which is constantly in use. It's a double lane on each side. And cars are often doing more than they should. I'm terrified if he gets out he has zero road sense & will just dart in front of cars. What would you do? It's not that I don't trust her. I just got trust her clients. I did think about trying to groom & clip him myself but with a baby on the way & when the baby is born I don't think I will be able to upkeep it. Am I being oversensitive due to hormones. I feel like I'm going crazy. Here is a photo of the handsome boy

i wouldn’t say over sensitive or over reacting . all i would say is if you can’t relax while your pup is there and it’s no longer the best fit , find another groomer which makes you comfortable . Nothing wrong with moving on if you feel like it’s a matter of safety for your pet x sadly accidents do happen and once they do it’s hard to come back from that fear you felt in that moment . it’s ok to feel like it’s not going to work out x

Not an over reaction when you go ask her what her new safety procedures are to ensure he doesn't escape. Explain you trust her but after that experience you both endured as she would have felt guilt and panicked by the situation aswell, you are just wondering how he would be kept safe since next to a major road. Also explain you are pregnant and really can't deal with worrying and stressing unnecessarily so just need reassuring.

If you and your dog like and trust this groomer, then you can work a way around it. I would ask that if the groomer takes them out the door they always use a lead and harness? I'd have thought that would be common sense for most set ups anyway!

Maybe ask can you stay whilst they are groomed?

Just ask for a lead on to take him out. Surely that should be standard?
