Doula?

I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is on doulas? And who is good in edmonton? I have so many questions. I have never thought of it before, but I was talking to someone who said it was amazing having a doula at her birth. I had a pretty traumatic experience last July when my son was born. And when we get the ok to have try again I do want to go througj the same experience. Back story if it helps. I was induced at 37 weeks for late term pre-eclampsia. They induced me by the folley Balloon. Even though I was telling every nurse I was allergic to latex when asked about allergies, and it was on my file. They ended up putting a latex baloon in. We didn't know the difference. I thought inducstions where one. Drip. Not the baloon. I was home for an hour and in extenuating pain. I couldn't sit, walk, lay down. Finally, I called and went back in, and they gave me morphine. I was able to pull the baloon out about 6 hours after they put it in. (One nurse also ripped skin off my thigh, having to readjust the one part it). 4 hours after they started oxytocin. 5 ours after thay broke my water. 2 epidurals as the 1st didn't take making me really dizzy, and my hearing went weird. 24 hours after the folley was put in, I had an emergency c section as I hadn't dilated past 3 cm. And lil guys heart rate was fluctuations a bit when she went back over his stats. C section was horribly painful to where i was crying and had to get extra meds to make me sleepy. So 1st time seeing baby I was seeing double. Also found out we had. Blood incompatibility. They sent us home with him severely jaundice, and we ended up back at a week old in the NICU. I want to avoid any of this happening again for the next baby when the time comes.

Doula’s are great, some insurance now even helps cover the cost so check your benefits package!

I loved my doula, Asha. She's with full circle birth collective

First of all, what you experienced was AWFUL! I understand why it was traumatic. Regaining your power back, it's 100% possible. It's also possible for you to have a VBAC. There are soooo many things to talk about. Having a doula by my side for my second child changed my life. That's why I'm now a doula. Doulas have so much to offer, you have no idea! I'd love to share what I do with you 🤍 I think every woman should have a doula

I haven’t tried a doula but a friend of mine had one for all three of her births and loves it. Conversely we had midwives for all three of my boys and loved it. With two out of three we ended up with medical intervention… emergency c-section with first and c section for third after hours of labor for induced baby who was sunny side up.
