Weird or not?

So my c section my daughter is removed from my body and then my dr causally asks me if I want to see my uterus. I didn’t even know it was outside my body. I told him no thank you. I was planning a hypnobirth. So I was pretty freaked out. Then he ask my significant other if he wanted to see inside my body. He showed him a bunch of my organs while the nurses took our baby to the warmer. Honestly it broke my heart how casual they were about it all. I loved when I got to feel her cheek against mine. Did any one else get offered this?

That’s horrific I would put in a complaint to the hospital!

My doctor never offered that, and I'm glad he didn't. That's not right at all and unsettling

That is weird and I would file a complaint as well.

I specifically asked for a picture of my uterus! I would’ve LOVED this! I wanted the whole curtain down while they did the c-section but they wouldn’t let that happen haha

As a hospital administrator I can see how that felt unsettling for a patient who wasn’t expecting it but it’s actually pretty common practice to offer to see at the hospitals I’ve worked at. And during both my csections at a different hospital I was offered as well. Both my husband and I declined because we’ve already what it looks like from a professional standpoint. Was this doctor your OB during your pregnancy? If so, was he that causal about other things?

I mean it’s weird but I’d be the freak who would go “yeah why not”😅🤣 like I’d of happily watched the whole procedure if I could. Just like my partner looked when he went over to see our baby and the lady said don’t look at the huge hole in my belly😂

Ummm pretty weird in my opinion. My husband was curious and wanted to see behind the curtain (he’s been watching too much House MD) and they vehemently said no because they didn’t want him passing out. I had zero interest, particularly as this was not my birth plan and I was pretty upset and traumatized throughout.

So I was offered by the consultant before my c section but I ended up having an emergency one, with a different consultant. She was really nice and didn't offer, but I asked to watch because I'm weird like that 😂

I don’t know but that’s really weird . When I had mine ( emergency ) they didn’t ask any of that before or after

Jez that sounds abit wild

I had a planned section my child's father put his phone on record to video baby coming out of my stomach...hung his phone over the sheet they put up.i seen the video after but was more disgusted than anything 😑 just seeing the blood and that but it was a little interesting to see .I would find it weird a doctor saying come look inside her organs basically lol

To me...that seems very strange. Yes, all of that happens and yes your organs are literally outside of your body, but to ask so casually if you want to see it is very off-putting to me...

Haha my husband has seen enough with me giving birth let alone my insides too - romance isn’t dead 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m so sorry you felt uncomfortable it’s not fair at all - I think men are a little more…practical I guess 🙈 my husband prob would have taken photos and showed me at some inopportune time - each to their own but I can totally agree with you that that is not why you went there!!!!!

I mean, I’m fairly sure letting your husband (not the patient) see that stuff without your permission (as the actual patient) is very unethical.

Thank you so much for responding. It’s nice to finally talk to other moms about it and see the different points of view. They also forgot to take off my covid mask. I started throwing up and then realized I couldn’t move. The took the mask off and cleaned my face but I was already freaked out by that before my baby came out. He wasn’t my normal doctor and had only met him two other times. He was a great surgeon but man his bed side manners were lacking. I definitely grieved the experience I was hoping and preparing for. Thanks for your time ❤️❤️❤️
