Free nursery hours?

Okay my toddler will be 2 in June and we just got an email saying he’s been accepted into nursery Thursdays & Fridays. Unfunded. Is every child entitled to free nursery hours in Scotland When they’re 2 or 3(can’t remember which one it is) or does it have to be with both parents working? As I currently don’t work I have a 4 month old. I’ve tried googling it and I’m soooo confused . Any help would be appreciated thank you so much 🤍xx

Scotland is 3 and 4 years old get 30 hours free and only eligible 2 year olds xxx

It's from the term after they turn 3 (not from their birthday) for most people, but a few people in certain circumstances/on certain benefits can get funded hours from 2. https://www.daynurseries.co.uk/advice/a-guide-to-free-childcare-in-scotland-for-2-3-and-4-year-olds

To be eligible for under 3 funded you have to be claiming some sort of benefit or social worker or health visitor has said its would be beneficial that they attend. Or some other reason. All working and non working are eligible for the 30 hours free 3 and over xxxxx

Thank you so much girls, see my HV put in a supporting letter to the nursery(he has a speech delay & suspected autism) but no mention of funded hours but that’s okay. Xx

It's from 3 but eligible 2 year old get it. I'm a single parent with a part time job but earn just over the bracket so don't get free childcare. I do get a percentage back through UC though so that's a massive help.

You could be entitled to a free 2 year old place if you are not working as the cut off is 16k, your local council will likely have information on their website or ask your HV how to apply. He would be entitled to 30 hours if you meet the criteria

If you’re on UC I believe you can get up to 85% of your childcare costs funded. Could be wrong though. Otherwise they get 30 hours (term time basis) from age 3. Remember to register for a tax free childcare account if you are paying the full costs. X

Do you know if you've got it purely on the assessment? Cause my boy is being referred for vision, hearing and autism and doesn't speak, still waiting on first words but I don't get any free hours. I have heard of others getting it purely on autism though?

They suspected my nephew had autism so he had funding for early nursery. He’s recently been confirmed as autistic
