Child laughs when I say “no”

Losing my mind! My 1 YO laughs in my face when I say “no” or “no touch”. I tried everything: distracting her with something else, saying “no” calmly, firmly, louder than normal. She just laughs. I even lightly swat her hand a few times yo see if that work (I hated doing that so I’m glad that didn’t work) and she just thinks it’s funny. I’m at a loss, it’s getting to be overwhelming and frustrating! Idk why she’s defiant like that and idk what else to do

Commenting cuz I want to know too. Not trying to cause her trauma but there has to be a good way that is like developmentally appropriate? It’s mostly smacking me in the face that I say no, and she winds up again to hit me

@Kinda right! My 1 YO keeps trying to touch electrical sockets (I have the covers) but still don’t want her touching them! And some are unable to be preventable for her to touch.

This might be a bit different but it can be developmentally something they do to fix the situation. With my two yr he was acting out about having a baby sister. So he would hit then laugh. What they are actually doing is trying to fix your emotions. They hit you get mad so they laugh because it makes mommy smile when I laugh

Just keep saying no and redirecting. One year olds are still babies.

Omg mine does too!!!

I will still redirect and keep saying no and don’t touch. If you want to do “ corner time “ as a way to punish so they know you’re serious there’s that too
