Question: has anyone here gone through a “mock cycle” with ERA/Receptiva/Emma and Alice tests?

Was it worth it? As background, my husband and I have been trying for just over a year now and have decided to start IVF next month. We have gone through fertility testing - blood tests to check hormones, vitamins, thyroid function, etc. as well as an Hsg test for me. The only thing doctors can pinpoint is my husband’s lower morphology at 10%. Doctor is suggesting a mock cycle after the extraction cycle and before we proceed to the transfer cycle. What are your thoughts/experiences??

Hi, not had this but in the UK it's seems to be standard practice to have a mock transfer before your cycle begins. So they started us on the norethisterone at the time of my previous cycle when my lining should be right for transfer. They did the mock transfer to see which equipment worked best on my body. And then we went straight in to the fresh cycle after coming off the pill.

Hi Kimberly, we did a mock cycle with all the tests you mentioned above. However we did this only after 2 transfers failed. The results all came back as normal so did not actually have an affect on changing any part of our protocol for the third transfer (which has been a successful cycle) I’m not sure if I would recommend it on your first cycle but that is just with my experience. When we got to our third transfer, I felt that I wanted to do every test under the sun to have that feeling of “well, at least I tried everything” but it is an expensive thing to do for that feeling. And I do feel from a first cycle you will tend to gain a lot of knowledge moving forward if it is unfortunately unsuccessful. Wishing my you all the best 🙏🏽 x

I have had Emma/Alice etc but only after a few failed transfers. A mock transfer is very standard where they practice passing the catheter through the cervix etc but not necessarily an up front full mock cycle I don’t think. Maybe ask them why they think it’s needed or if it’s just what your clinic always advises?

@Chloe Hi Chloe! Oh interesting - thanks for sharing!!

@Sally congrats on your third, successful transfer!! That’s so exciting 💕 Your advice completely makes sense. It is extra money and I don’t have any symptoms/indications that the tests would come back positive for any irregularities which is why I’m on the fence. I do take some solace in knowing beforehand that everything is healthy in case of a failed transfer as you mentioned though… so many decisions!!

@Helena hi Helena! That’s reassuring that it’s standard. A lot of friends I’ve spoken to didn’t have the mock cycle which is why I was curious in the first place. Thanks for sharing ❤️🙏

@Kimberly thank you and if you ever have questions feel free to message x
