Reducing last nap

My 3 year old is starting to have a really hard time falling asleep at night so I think I need to start reducing/take away his last nap entirely. I have a 1 year old who still needs naps so I'm not entirely sure how to keep him entertained but quiet during that time. I've seen parents will put them in their room for quiet play time during that time but I'm not sure what safe toys I can put in there without having to constantly go in and help him and I don't want to just put him in front of a tablet the whole time. We live in a small apartment. Any tips how to handle having a napping baby with not napping toddler? Navigating all these changes is so hard 😩

I’m going through the same thing. I just give my 3 year old a couple books and flash cards to look at while my 1 year old takes her nap.

@Jasmine he has a ton of books and stuffed animals in his bed but he seems so bored in there until he falls asleep, I feel bad 😩

Quiet time. My son just turned 3 and doesn’t nap anymore. I still do quiet time. Usually consists of coloring or making him lay down to “rest his body” while he watches a non stimulating show such as puffin rock or trash truck.

@Chelsey Mirabel do you have him lay down and do quiet time in his room or out in the living area with you? My son can be quite destructive if he's left unsupervised with crayons and markers 😅

@Annika he’s an only child and we only have one tv in the house that’s in the living room. He has the same blanket for quiet time. He pulls it out and spreads it out and I’ll give him an option if this show or that show and if he gets up the show is being turned off. Which usually works for him. My son has a lot of energy as well so I try to do a lot of activities to exert the energy. After dinner we go for a bike ride or walk. We do a loop that’s a 1/2 mile some days he asks to go twice (1 mile) then we come home do bath time books and I’ll put an animal documentary on with a calm voice. He really likes ocean animals like whales and sharks so I attempt to keep it to calmer stuff not “when sharks attack” lol Netflix has a great mindset meditation thing he has fallen asleep listening too. There’s also great bedtime stories for kids on the calm app!
