I hate my pregnancy pillow!

I’m a back sleeper and I’m really struggling to adjust to side sleeping with my pregnancy pillow. I keep waking up on my back, which makes me worry, and also disturbs my sleep! I’ve also woken up with the pillow pushed out the bed and on the floor. It’s been about a month now and I’m still not used to it, sleeping soooo badly since I got it. Anyone else struggling? I’m 16+2. X

Also a back sleeper… I don’t think you need to worry about it until much later in pregnancy. It’s good to try getting used to it (I’m also trying…) but in terms of worrying I really don’t think you need to stop sleeping on your back for another 5+ weeks!!

I think it's not until 28 weeks that it's important to sleep on your side. Also I read somewhere that it's how you fall asleep that's most important as that is the position you spend most of the night, so don't feel bad if you wake up on your back. If the pregnancy pillow isn't working maybe try another one? What one do you have?

Cut yourself some slack. You tried 😄 My mum has always slept on her back, whole pregnancy. I am perfectly fine. Most doctors if normal will tell you that you causing yourself more harm by forcing yourself to do something so unnatural for you and being stressed X

Too early to be worried about sleeping on your back :) and even later on, advice is to move to one side once you wake up and realise you’ve been sleeping on your back rather than something horrific will happen if you ever sleep in the wrong way. Pregnancy pillow wise, was strongly recommended to get the bbhugme pillow. I got one off gumtree at a fraction of the price and has I already love it!

I sleep on my stomach normally and am struggling to adjust too!! My thought process (maybe not the right one!!!) is that if my body doesn’t want me on my front, I won’t be able to get there (eg when my bump is bigger!!)

Research suggests that, after 28 weeks, falling asleep on your back can double the risk of stillbirth. This may be to do with the flow of blood and oxygen to the baby. Just check with you Midwife xx

I had a similar problem, and I didn’t want to sleep with one of the huge sausage shaped pillows either because I get so warm! I ordered one of those Natty side lying wedge pillows and it does the trick. I miss back sleep so much 😂
