Pooing in pull up

Help and advice please. My daughter is 3 years and 5 months. She still insists on pooing in a pull up. Wees on the toilet and takes herself to the toilet. No problem. Try to encourage her to use the toilet. Tried charts and prizes. Not even a Rapunzel doll is a pull enough to try. Catch 22, as I don't want to force her to use the toilet and take the pull ups away so she becomes constipated. Then we have another problem. As she's fine with bowel movements. Wears pull ups at bedtime, but again not keen to wear knickers. But on the whole dry at night. I know of wearing a pull up and cutting a hole in it. Gradually making it bigger etc. Seems a bit dragged out. Hoping she will come round eventually.

We are in exactly the same boat, son born December 2020 so not far off. I’ve got two friends with children similar ages who are also doing the same. So no advice but just empathy x

My daughter was fully using the toilet last summer however poo’s took a little longer. Every child is different but with my daughter we used to take her to the toilet with the pull up on/or knickers if she had an accident. We then made her watch us put the poo in the toilet and we waved goodbye and flushed the toilet together. Sounds super crazy but we kept telling her that we must do a poo on the toilet to feed the toilet otherwise it gets hungry 😂😂😂 actually typing that makes me realise what a strange person I seem 😂😂😂! When I could catch her needing to go, we would set the toilet up, with a stall and her toilet seat and just leave her on the toilet whilst playing heads shoulders needs an toes on my phone (phone out of her reach though so it didn’t distract her). We would wait outside and let her be and eventually she would go on the loo. Please don’t judge me based on this 😂😂😂

You've got to do what you gotta do. No judgement here!. Yeah we put the poo in the toilet and flush it away. I think it's almost she doesn't want to give it away. As I've heard children can feel like it's letting a part of them go?! Bribe with mcdonalds too not working. Ha. Just hoping by September 2025 she's pooing in the toilet!. She poos sitting on the floor in the toilet. Thinking maybe don't put pull ups downstairs toilet and see what happens.

Yes I heard about that aswell which is why we did the whole thing about waving it goodbye 😂 but I think the music worked for my daughter because she wasn’t directly thinking about going to the toilet as she was singing to the song and making it fun. It took about a week but she got it in the end. You’ll be pleased to know we no longer need to wave goodbye or play a song 😂

@Lauren what song is that?

We just played a song she likes when on the toilet. Head shoulders knees and toes seemed to be the one we went with x

My LO did this, think it was a sensory thing but eventually she came around and all of a sudden just started pooing in the toilet. There is an app or story called 'Poo goes to Pooland' which my HV recommended which helped x
