A friend of mine has similar story to the one above. Had induction with first child which led to interventions and it was really tough labour, second she waited (with extra health checks and stretch and sweeps) and had a great second experience completely different from the first. I’m sure there can be positive induction birth stories out there too, but try not to stress too much. Most first borns are not born before 40 + 3 or something like that. Let us know how you go 🙏🏼 Maybe read up on it on the website “Evidence based birth” as well to read pros and cons.
Also cervix can open from one day to another and is no sign of if labour is near so to say. Some dilate super quick some walk around with 3pm opening for ages. You just don’t really know based on looking at the cervix.
Hello😊. I’ve had my sweep at 41 weeks (didn’t help) and booked me for induction the day after. One very strict nurse said “we don’t induce on the weekends, on Friday we are busy, come tomorrow. “ It was my first pregnancy so I said OK. but I wanted to wait, I had really good pregnancy and didn’t have any problems. The induction was horrible and it took 26 hours. It put so much stress on her and she really didn’t want to come. Now I know, she just wasn’t ready to come yet. With my second pregnancy I will deffinitely wait. There is no time to rush if you don’t have any issues. I know you are maybe impatient and the days are long, but I think nothing is better than when your body naturaly starts the process. Good luck with everything!
