Breastfeeding and alcohol

This is a debatable topic but I am wondering if any mums still drink whilst breastfeeding. Obviously waiting the recommended time before feeding again. Is one measure of vodka 25ml considered to be more alcohol than a glass of rose or wine? I usually wait 4 hours for 50ml of vodka. Is this enough time to wait?

I don’t think you have to wait for 50ml of vodka tbh as long as you aren’t going crazy, if you feel sober enough to pick them up and look after them your ok to feed.

Will the alcohol not pass through the milk though? 50ml is still 50ml of vodka....

It’s nothing to worry about. There’s no need to wait either. Enjoy your drink!

Some alcohol does get into breast milk but it is such a low amount it is not considered impactful for baby.

I do not drink I do drink coffee though

Latest research says it’s absolutely fine to have a few drinks, like throwing a shot into a swimming pool. But you shouldn’t be solely in charge of your baby after a few drinks, or Co-sleep for safety reasons
