Holidays!

Where do people recommend to go on holidays abroad with a toddler? I always just took my eldest to haven caravan site but it's actually more expensive than going abroad now! It'd have to be in school holidays, lots of outdoor space, cheap, good food etc. Absolutely not a package place full of tourists though, I'd rather gauge my eyes out 😂 Malta and Bucharest are on my list so far

I would definitely recommend Malta, not sure about Bucharest (incidentally is the capital of my home county) is very busy, expensive and although nice for adults, wouldn’t say is necessarily toddler friendly. We’ve been to warmell (Parkdean) and we loved it . We also been sandford (Parkdean) during toddlers week and they had loooads of activities free for toddlers plus toddlers eat for free in their restaurants. It only cost us £150 for the caravan. Downside is that we went the week after Easter break but if you have a look on their website, they do have some good deals.

@Suzana yeah Bucharest would probably be best for when he's older, I'm desperate to go to therme spa! Where did you go in Malta? Looking at Gdansk too now as my teens best friend lives there in school holidays so he could potentially have someone to hang out with that isn't his boring parents 😂 Did 10 years of caravan parks and never want to see one again!

Hi Mel, Bucharest is my home city, as Suzana said, it is not for toddlers, nothing really for them there and very busy. If you want Romania there are other beautiful cities more suitable for children and you can go to therme from there, but do not expect to be very cheap. I've been with mine last year to Mallorca and we all loved it, only 2 hours travel what was perfect and pretty cheap. About Malta I haven't been but I looked online as it is on my list and it's not that cheap.

@Otilia anywhere you'd recommend? Before baby with just one kid we did backpacking in Croatia, Berlin, Budapest, Krakow, Vilnius so city breaks are definitely our favourite. We aren't beach people it would bore me to death, we like museums and churches and architecture. Last year we went to Rotterdam but the weather in Holland is as bad as in England 😂 My husband spent a few months working in Transylvania before meeting me and he loved it there but that probably isn't very toddler friendly 🙈

Malta looks like I'td be reallyyyy hot when my husband has the time off (last 2 weeks of August) so that might be a no :(

Hi Mel, have you been to Slovakia or Chech republic? If you prefer city breaks I would defo recommend Prague or Kosice. I live near Kosice and there is lots to do there for toddlers. Massive ZOO with dinosaur park, Childrens steam train, summer bob sledge, beautiful cathedral, viewpoints , good food, nice coffee.

@Aniko we've been to Prague but not Kosice, will check it out thanks! We've found European cities are always way better for city playgrounds etc than the UK.

We took our little one to Majorca when he was 7 months old and it was great! We took him to Lanzarote a year later and he loved it. Excellent on the planes both times (last year we flew from Belfast-Birmingham then Birmingham to Lanzarote) he was good as gold!
