Weaning sick help

Help. We’ve been weaning our 6 month old for a few weeks now, she sits un aided and shows interest in food. Each time she has a puréed food she is instantly gagging and then sick like ALOT of sick a whole bottle or more just comes out. We’ve tried watering it down, different purées, different fruit and veg and tried bang porridge/rice and wafers still the same thing gagging then being sick. Any suggestions ?

Although not very nice weaning and gagging/ being sick often come hand in hand until baby learns to move food around their mouth properly. There’s a Facebook group called weaning the BLW way which has lots of info on gagging and being sick etc and you may be able to find some stories for reassurance. If it was something particular I’d say maybe an allergy or sensitivity but if it’s everything I’d say her gag reflex may be quite far forward. Hopefully with plenty of practice things get easier. Have you tried mimicking what she needs to do like chewing and swallowing? This helped my baby loads x

I started off with purees my daughter was do exactly the same. Projectile vomiting and gagging. She didn't like being spoon feeding either. So we have started finger foods, surprising she is absolutely loving being able to feed herself. She hasn't thrown up and only gagged a couple of times. Definitely worth a try
